Head coach weekly update

Dear all,

What an amazing day we had on Sunday, it’s not about how much money we made, Sunday was more about how well we projected ourselves as a club and in both respects we were great. 12 category wins, more parents and helpers than I have ever seen involved, masses of support from the bank and on the landing, race control to a huge effort from various parents on both the tombola and hugely successful catering team, commentary, car park and trailer organisation, and yes, rowing too. Huge praise from coaches and parents from neighbouring clubs on our naturally friendly atmosphere and supportive members.

Tyne regatta has been cancelled unfortunately due to lack of entries but there will be sessions on at the club as usual, though we didn’t have any junior entries anyway so it shouldn’t affect us this weekend. I would be grateful if you could complete the link below if you are a parent of a j15 or above athlete to show availability for Tees Regatta on the 13th May (the rule of thumb is, if you are not sure, fill it in anyway, the coaches will see what you tick).

Could you also pay Simon Adamson (via the small brown envelope) asap for race fees, as they soon mount up as we have five regattas in a row.

Chester-Le-Street Rowing Club are in with a chance to win £4,000. We have been successful in our bid to be one of three organizations chosen to face a public vote at the Tesco store in Chester le Street. Whenever you shop in store you will be given a token to vote. The voting boxes will be put out sometime this week. Please share with family and friends and help us all that you can. This money could do such a lot for our little club.

The Hermitage session tonight is 3x1k 4 min rest, then circuits.

We have a few ex/current CLS athletes who have done very well at the student national championships over the weekend, with James Snowball and Lauren Irwin winning medals. Amy Fuller also, though if anyone knows of any more, please let me know.

The club will be starting its second adult learn to row course of the year as the last was so popular. Please let me know if you know of anyone who might be interested (a Facebook link will be circulated shortly), the course starts on 4th June finishing 9th July and take place on Wednesday nights and Sunday afternoons. Please email Louise Heckels who organises the course, louiseheckels29@gmail.com.

Thanks

Steven
