Head coach weekly update

Dear all,

After a regatta number four of six weekends in a row, Hexham proved another successful and testing day. Another impressive 9 wins in one day resulted in another Victor Ludorum Trophy for the third year in a row; next week the clubs looks for another Victor Ludorum at Durham Regatta, again for the third year in a row. There were some very impressive performances from our j13 boys and girls squads with every crew getting to a final. The men’s masters quad won again as they build momentum for the British Master Championships in June. Caitlin Warren, Ellie Hall, Matthew Cleugh, Amy Snook and Dean Slater all won their singles and the mens and womens junior quads also won. What was also very impressive was the togetherness and help offered from everyone at the club from parents to athletes. I saw many examples of people lifting boats, offering kit and trestles to each other.

Durham Regatta takes place on Saturday and Sunday and as a result, there will be no sessions on at the club as it’s all hands to the pump. The entries and fees are attached so please make sure you pay either Simon or Bob asap. The draw with precise time will appear on the Durham Regatta website. Please appear at least one hour before your boating time as they are quick to disqualify. Please also make sure you wear club colours when racing as I don’t think tartan will be acceptable…

Lauren Irwin delivered another stellar performance at the Metropolitan Regatta last weekend as she build for a season rowing for GB at Henley and international regattas in fine form winning the elite pairs for a third year in a row!

Back the Boat- Crowd funding effort- on behalf of the Chairman, Bob Young, can I thank everyone who donated to the cause as we raised £380 after four weeks on the website. This money will go towards our boat. Thanks again.

Park View Performance Academy- as many of you may already know, Holly Young (our schools liaison coach), has made a very important link between Park View who have impressive new facilities that we now have access to in the way of performance monitoring equipment etc.
Have a good week.
