Head coach weekly update

Nithsdale Regatta

Ten wins and 16 finals for one of my favourite regattas of all time (and my first). The club as a whole, from the seniors and masters to the younger juniors, all enjoyed a successful day in Scotland. It is quite a journey but well worth taking, to not only support a fellow small club doing very well but to stretch the legs of those who will be racing at Talkin Tarn in a few weeks.

Talkin Tarn Regatta Info

Talkin Tarn Regatta takes place on Saturday 7th July – our crews are attached and the draw will appear on the website below. Please be at the trailer as usual an hour before your boating time and pay your fees asap. Please make sure you pay attention to the draw, times and boats allocated as we have a big entry and the day will be very busy and hectic.

Women’s Henley Regatta

We had two girls crews competing for the club in the women’s singles event at the premier regatta for women on the racing calendar at the famous venue. Bobbi Forster in her single was unfortunate to not qualify in a strong field, being the first to miss out in a star studded list, but this is good preparation for Brit Champs for her in a single over the championship distance. Eve Larsen got through the time trial and eliminated a fancied sculler from Tideway, then narrowly missed out on a semi final after beating her opponent at the half way mark from Wales only to slow in the second half. Lauren Irwin made a huge statement winning the blue ribbon event, the women’s eight over a crew from America by four lengths to strengthen her claim for a GB Under 23 vest for the seocnd year in a row.

GB vs France Trial

We send a confident contingent of boys and girls to Nottingham on Sunday in the hope that they will perform well at the GB vs France trial. The prize is representing GB but to perform well, finish highly and show what we have is really beneficial as the club looks to start showing what excellent juniors we have going forward in the winter for the trial process. The mj16 four of Tyler O’Donnell, Samuel Graham, Max Wilson and Aidan Roberts, mj162- of Roman Bowery and Samuel Graham, wj162- of Ellie Hall and Caitlin Warren and Molly Dowson in the wj161x represent the club, wish them luck.

The Hermitage Session Tonight

The land session will be on at the Hermitage tonight not at Park View, that will happen at a later date.

Have a good week.
