Final Statement to Members 30-1-2022 re the disposal of the weight training equipment
Following recommendations by British Rowing the club wish to make the following statement to members.
The following information was shared with some club members in a meeting prior to the Jan 2020 AGM and then with all club members present at the 30th January 2020 AGM. And indeed on numerous occasions since then. The same information was discussed again at the December 2020 AGM.
Disposal of the Clubs weight training equipment was discussed during committee meetings in November and December 2018.
The club Captain at that time identified which equipment should be kept and which equipment should be disposed of.
The decision to dispose of the equipment was made during a committee meeting in 2019 – BUT significantly it was not recorded properly – this is one of the issues that the club officials took action to improve at the Jan 2020 AGM.
The equipment was collected and disposed of by the scrap man prior to the club refurbishment.
Significantly none of the equipment was valued at over £500 pounds and was therefore never listed as an asset.
The club deeply regrets that this has upset some of the club members.
